The Members Club Business: A Deep Dive

Annabel's has seen the best and worst of me.

Member's clubs seem to be popping up everywhere these days, to the point where it's more common to have a membership somewhere or have a friend that invites you to a clubhouse regularly. But while you're carefully crafting your application answers on why you're "cool" enough to be accepted, you realize that you're just paying for access to essentially an "enhanced restaurant" and the ability to say you belong somewhere. And, in the backdrop of recent economic uncertainty, why do people continue to dote over membership clubs, and why do hospitality groups continue to open new clubs? I had the privilege of developing Aman Beverly Hills during my real estate PE days, and got to look at several financing pitch decks for the likes of Soho House, Neue House, Casa Cipriani, San Vicente Bungalows, etc… So, let's do a deep dive:
